Wisconsin Film Festival
Founded in 1999, the annual Wisconsin Film Festival is one of the largest university-run film festivals in the United States. A leading regional film festival, the Wisconsin Film Festival takes place in venues on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus and throughout Madison. Programming includes new independent, international, and documentary films, as well as restorations and other repertory films. Each year the Festival also features special programs including Wisconsin’s Own, a section of films featuring Wisconsin filmmakers, themes, or settings, and Big Screens Little Folks, a section of children’s and family films.
Throughout its history, the Festival has been presented primarily by two units at the University of Wisconsin-Madison: the Department of Communication Arts and the Arts Institute/Division of the Arts. For many years, the Division of the Arts managed the administration of the Festival, and the Department of Communication Arts was responsible for programming. The Department of Communication Arts has been the sole unit running the Festival since 2021.
The Wisconsin Film Festival has made all of its film guides available here.
