Introduction
This exhibit details Boretz's involvement with organizations adjacent to and outside the entertainment industry as a method of highlighting his dedication to projects that provided aid to a variety of causes. His foundational work with larger organizations such as United Cerebral Palsy and the Writers Guild of America - East, and his local work with the Woodmere Library Board all demonstrate his active desire towards bettering the future for the next generations.
Additionally, his contact with organizations such as the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IPMR), the Family Services Association, the National Paraplegia Foundation (NPF), the Department of Public Health, the Port Authority of New York, as well as numerous hospitals, doctors, and regular employees of various professions was the cornerstone of Boretz's ability to write accurate stories that depict real-life experiences. Between his avid correspondence with contacts and in-depth research, Boretz became known for his well-intentioned desire to learn more about specific topics. His work was well received by the professionals that he contacted and visited, and as a result, occasionally led to achievements and awards such as the Christopher Award. Boretz's passion for projects related to his interests continued over the course of his life and is reflected throughout his works.
