Curating the exhibits

Next comes the part that you’re experiencing now! Confident that we could share full episodes along with still photos and ephemera from the WCFTR’s collections, the project team brainstormed ways to maximize the accessibility and impact of these “neglected giants.”

Now that you have a sense of the work and considerations that go into receiving and processing archival materials, we invite you to explore our specially curated, interactive displays of content related to early television at the WCFTR. The exhibits here present items specifically from the Faye Emerson and Ziv Television collections, including clips, sample episodes, and photographs, alongside introductions that offer you various entry points to appreciating the programs and understanding the historical conditions that produced them.

For more academic discussion of our process and findings, please refer to “Reviving Neglected Giants: Digitally Preserving and Sharing Two Early Television Collections,” forthcoming in The Archivability of Television (University of Georgia Press, 2025), edited by Lauren Bratslavsky and Elizabeth Peterson.
